The key advantages to the program are: · · · Reliability - the Optical Block Assembly are fully aligned and tested. In the case of Hi-Fi models, all the adjustments are already done. Cost - the cost of the assembly is less than the sum of the parts. Repair time reduced - replacing the Block Assembly is much quicker than replacing individual parts. It also eliminates replacing a second part if the first part does not repair the problem. For example, replacing the optics for skipping and then finding that the spindle motor was actually the cause. The program's key points and guidelines are: · · · · · The Optical Block Assembly consists of the Optics, Motors (and gears) and Chassis. The Optical Block Assembly has been tested and meets the same standard as new production assemblies. If the Optical Assembly is not available, normal repair procedures (replacement of individual parts) should be followed. Each Optical Block Assembly is supplied with a form that must be filled out by the technician and returned with the defective Optical Block Assembly. All defective Optical Block Assemblies must be returned to the National Parts Center in Kansas City. Please use the original packaging to return the Assembly. A list of the Optical Block Assemblies and the models which use them follows. Also included with this Bulletin is the procedure for returning the Block Assemblies to the National Parts Center. CONT.
